Essex
Essex County Cricket Club was founded in 1876 and eventually went on to gain First-Class status in 1895. Currently competing in Division One of the County Championship, the club are seven-time winners of the competition having most recently reigned superior in 2017. An unforgettable victory and what that will live long in the memory of fans and players alike, the counties most recent triumph was even more special having only just been promoted from Division Two the previous year.
Based in Chelmsford, the County Ground has also seen five Pro40 cups, three Friends Provident cups along with two Benson & Hedges titles. The county has produced many international cricketers some of which have broken records and forever etched their names in the history books. Two legends of the English game that are still heavily involved at the club, one as a player and the other as a Board member, the great Alistair Cook CBE and Graham Gooch OBE are both products of this tremendous county and two incredibly popular and sought after cricket speakers.
Renowned for the small playing surface that has often led to huge total and scores being posted by teams, it is perhaps no surprise that Essex CCC has a proud tradition of producing batsman that have been the linchpins of the England team for a number of years. Along with their proficiency in producing batsman, the county also has a proud history of developing leaders and captain with the likes of Cook, Gooch, Nasser Hussain and Zimbabwe legend Andy Flower OBE.
Cook, Gooch and Hussain are all able to discuss leadership, management, English cricket and how to ensure you are maximising success with Flower captivating guests at events with his truly inspirational and motivational campaigning through apartheid and racial discrimination in the country. The former wicketkeeper batsman and England coach has an abundance of knowledge and expertise to share about the game during events and dinners where he eloquently discusses how to deal with setbacks, overcome adversity and sustain peak performance in addition to reminiscing on his incredibly successful time at the helm of English cricket.
There are few more popular cricket speakers and domestic cricketers then Ronnie Irani, the infectious all-rounder is not just a very respected England one day player but also a county stalwart at Essex. The current Chairman of the county, Irani is incredibly well placed to give a holistic and detailed perspective into the county having been a player, coach and Chairman. The endlessly popular, witty and simply hilarious cricket speaker is extremely sought after and regularly appears at club events and awards presentations as a result of being somewhat of an icon within the region.
